Playin' Hookey

Though we had only been back at work for two days after spring break, the family took a day off and played hookey from school and work. Okay...I like to sound "bad", but the real reason was that we were getting work done on our back porch. We need the brick ripped up and then replaced so we can fix a cracked PVC pipe from the sump pump. Well, after taking the day off to be there for the construction guys, we got a phone call at 7:30am letting us know that they wouldn't be able to make it. Long story short, they lost our money, and we still need to fix our porch, but we got to spend the warm, sunny afternoon up at Gettysburg with a picnic lunch!

We finally decided to get a family membership for the year to the Gettysburg Museum and Visitor's Center. I can't even count the number of times Brad and Brady went up for the day last summer and spent HOURS playing on the battlefields. I'm sure that the museum membership will not be wasted on this family! Here are highlights of our afternoon on the battlefields.
